My work represents my culture but more importantly tells a universal story. Who hasn't gone through a break up or has experienced another person try and change their character through  insecurity. 

Using forgotten and discarded black superhero's from yesteryear to tell my story, this piece painted  on canvas depicts "me" at wits end, explaining my position in one of my failing relationships. This is a piece about knowing your self worth and applying it to preserve your soul. 

The text in the speech bubble alludes to my love for the Motown era, with nearly every hip hop and R&B song from the gritty underground to mainstream having sampled from it which has acted as a metaphor for the mindset of mankind. Evolution. 

Many people know this song through the band Simply Red when in fact the original was sang Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass as the lead singer.
